Bloom celebrates the beauty and artistry of flowers. A series of delicate, sometimes bold, captivating images by artist, fashion designer, photographer and colorist Sara Louise Petty, Bloom showcases her unique talents and exquisite color sensibility. Although Sara is well versed in all methods of photography, and her favorite is film photography – Bloom is entirely photographed with an iPhone. Sara loves the thought of creating fine art, with a phone camera. A juxtaposition of showing her interesting techniques, and dreamy lighting and low fi modern art appeal – some pieces feel almost Warhol-esque.
Sara also loves the idea of celebrating the beauty of flowers, long after their prime. Much as human beings, flowers gradually fade in the splendor of a freshly picked flower, and evolve. Also much as human beings, this process is beautiful and flowers take on deeper or faded hues and willowy, graceful curves as they wither away. Sara saw so much beauty and the metaphor in this, and made them into art.
